After a fairly early breakfast at the hotel our group all boarded the bus where we met our guide for the day, Carmen. We were first taken to visit the Monastery of San Francisco shown below.
and, the Plaza de Armas.
the Archbishop's Palace,
and, the Cathedral of Lima.
We gathered outside the fence of the Archbishop's Palace to hear the marching band play.
Then found the benches inviting us to sit and enjoy the view and flowers.
Back on the bus we traveled through the city to the beach, passing this beautiful bluff high above the Pacific Ocean. The paragliding interested some of us.
Our next stop was the Larco Herrera Museum boasting one of the greatest private collections of pre-Columbian artifacts. Its permanent exhibition includes a variety of colorful textiles, ceramics and jewelry but its most interesting collection consists of ancient erotic artifacts. Since pictures were not allowed inside the museum, this photographer found the gardens outside to be the most interesting.
We returned to our hotel about 5 p.m. and later located a nice restaurant
recommended by Carmen that was about 6 blocks from our hotel. A brisk walk and we were there to enjoy our dinner. We returned to the hotel to prepare to for our early flight tomorrow.
